American Family Insurance offers a decent range of coverage for renters insurance, in both property to protect your belongings and liability to cover you should a visitor to your rental unit injure themselves.

However, this home and contents insurance lacks a few features and services offered by higher-ranked competitors on our list. Moreover, American Family Insurance offers renters insurance in only 19 states. These are Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

My local agent is a super guy. Most times when I go in to pay a payment he and his wife are there and usually have a free gift to give out. I had car troubles and called about getting a rental car covered under my policy. There was a new gal working and she misinformed me. My previous agent called after I had already paid for out-of-pocket for a rental for a week and told me there was a mistake. Not having had much money at the time I was more or less devastated! He got me a refund! They go to bat for you. I am not sure I could get insurance any less anywhere else or have as good of service!"


American family insurance does not let you add endorsement online. That's the Ability to increase coverage amounts for certain item such as Jewelry, silverware, firearms, and others. when calling the general customer service phone number listed on the company's website, we were reffered to the local agents. Representative effectively handle only auto insurance at the national line.

Over all, American Family insurance have A rating, or excellent from insurance rating leaders A.M. Best. That's solid information, but  not as good as the A+ and A++ Ratings, Both wich are categorized as superior insurance.
